CVE-2019-17185 is a high-severity flaw (CVSS 7.5) affecting freeradius, leap. Below: why it ranks where it does, which versions are affected, what to do, and the exact commands.

In FreeRADIUS 3.0.x before 3.0.20, the EAP-pwd module used a global OpenSSL BN_CTX instance to handle all handshakes. This mean multiple threads use the same BN_CTX instance concurrently, resulting in crashes when concurrent EAP-pwd handshakes are initiated. This can be abused by an adversary as a Denial-of-Service (DoS) attack.

1. Check installed version
apt-cache policy freeradius || rpm -q freeradius || freeradius --version
2. UPGRADE to 3.0.20 (Debian / Ubuntu)
sudo apt update && sudo apt install --only-upgrade freeradius

Note
Distros often backport fixes without changing the version number. Confirm with the distro advisory or changelog.
3. If no update is available yet, DOWNGRADE to a release before 3.0.0 (Debian / Ubuntu)
apt-cache madison freeradius sudo apt install freeradius=<VERSION_BEFORE_3.0.0> sudo apt-mark hold freeradius
3. If no update is available yet, DOWNGRADE (RHEL / Amazon Linux / Fedora)
dnf --showduplicates list freeradius sudo dnf downgrade freeradius-<VERSION_BEFORE_3.0.0> sudo dnf versionlock add freeradius
Downgrade risk
Downgrading can break dependent software and may reopen older bugs. Read the distro advisory first and test on a non-production host.
After downgrade
Restart the service, and keep the package held until a fixed release ships.
