CVE-2026-107822 is a medium-severity flaw (CVSS 6.4) affecting mariadb. Below: why it ranks where it does, which versions are affected, what to do, and the exact commands.

MariaDB server is a community developed fork of MySQL server. From 10.6.1 until 10.6.28, 10.11.19, 11.4.13, 11.8.9, 12.3.3, and 13.0.2, MariaDB's ACL cache could generate the same database-privilege cache key for role and localhost user names that matched because both used an empty IP component. An attacker with CREATE USER could create the colliding principal and, when the original principal's database privileges were cached, exercise privileges

Safe to downgrade to: a release before 10.6.1
1. Check installed version
apt-cache policy mariadb || rpm -q mariadb || mariadb --version
2. UPGRADE to 10.6.28 (Debian / Ubuntu)
sudo apt update && sudo apt install --only-upgrade mariadb
2. UPGRADE (RHEL / Amazon Linux / Fedora)
sudo dnf upgrade mariadb
Note
Distros often backport fixes without changing the version number. Confirm with the distro advisory or changelog.
3. If no update is available yet, DOWNGRADE to a release before 10.6.1 (Debian / Ubuntu)
apt-cache madison mariadb sudo apt install mariadb=<VERSION_BEFORE_10.6.1> sudo apt-mark hold mariadb
3. If no update is available yet, DOWNGRADE (RHEL / Amazon Linux / Fedora)
dnf --showduplicates list mariadb sudo dnf downgrade mariadb-<VERSION_BEFORE_10.6.1> sudo dnf versionlock add mariadb
Downgrade risk
Downgrading can break dependent software and may reopen older bugs. Read the distro advisory first and test on a non-production host.
After downgrade
Restart the service, and keep the package held until a fixed release ships.
