CVE-2026-116180 is a high-severity flaw (CVSS 7.7) affecting vllm. Below: why it ranks where it does, which versions are affected, what to do, and the exact commands.

vLLM from 0.8.5 before 0.31.0 has a denial of service flaw. LogprobsTensors.empty_cpu() in vllm/v1/outputs.py allocates an uninitialized int32 tensor, and the V1 model runner leaves prompt positions reported as computed by a KV connector unwritten. A client sharing the engine can send prompt_logprobs (or echo with logprobs) against a connector-cached prefix, making tokenizer decode raise OverflowError, which crashes EngineCore and drops all co-te

Note
Distros often backport fixes without changing the version number. Confirm with the distro advisory or changelog.
3. If no update is available yet, DOWNGRADE to a release before 0.8.5 (Debian / Ubuntu)
apt-cache madison vllm sudo apt install vllm=<VERSION_BEFORE_0.8.5> sudo apt-mark hold vllm

dnf --showduplicates list vllm sudo dnf downgrade vllm-<VERSION_BEFORE_0.8.5> sudo dnf versionlock add vllm
Downgrade risk
Downgrading can break dependent software and may reopen older bugs. Read the distro advisory first and test on a non-production host.
After downgrade
Restart the service, and keep the package held until a fixed release ships.
