CVE-2026-15370 is a medium-severity flaw (CVSS 6.7) affecting libssh, hardened images, enterprise linux. Below: why it ranks where it does, which versions are affected, what to do, and the exact commands.

A flaw was found in libssh. During SFTP server directory listing, the longname field is constructed with unsafe concatenation into a fixed-size stack buffer. When a client causes the server to list attacker-controlled filenames, sufficiently long names can overflow that stack buffer and may lead to crashes or possible code execution on the server.

libssh libssh UPGRADE
Affected: >= 0.11.0 and < 0.11.5 · 0.12.0
Fixed in: 0.11.5
Safe to downgrade to: a release before 0.11.0
1. Check installed version
apt-cache policy libssh || rpm -q libssh || libssh --version
2. UPGRADE to 0.11.5 (Debian / Ubuntu)
sudo apt update && sudo apt install --only-upgrade libssh
2. UPGRADE (RHEL / Amazon Linux / Fedora)
sudo dnf upgrade libssh
Note
Distros often backport fixes without changing the version number. Confirm with the distro advisory or changelog.
3. If no update is available yet, DOWNGRADE to a release before 0.11.0 (Debian / Ubuntu)
apt-cache madison libssh sudo apt install libssh=<VERSION_BEFORE_0.11.0> sudo apt-mark hold libssh
3. If no update is available yet, DOWNGRADE (RHEL / Amazon Linux / Fedora)
dnf --showduplicates list libssh sudo dnf downgrade libssh-<VERSION_BEFORE_0.11.0> sudo dnf versionlock add libssh
Downgrade risk
Downgrading can break dependent software and may reopen older bugs. Read the distro advisory first and test on a non-production host.
After downgrade
Restart the service, and keep the package held until a fixed release ships.
