CVE-2026-41586 is a critical-severity flaw (CVSS 9.8) affecting fabric. Below: why it ranks where it does, which versions are affected, what to do, and the exact commands.

Hyperledger Fabric is an enterprise-grade permissioned distributed ledger framework for developing solutions and applications. From versions 1.0.0 to 2.2.26, Channel.java implements readObject() and exposes deSerializeChannel() which call ObjectInputStream.readObject() on untrusted byte arrays without configuring an ObjectInputFilter. This is a classic Java deserialization RCE pattern. At time of publication, there are no publicly available patch

Timeline

hyperledger fabric UPGRADE
Affected: >= 1.0.0 and <= 2.2.26
Fixed in: newer than 2.2.26
Safe to downgrade to: a release before 1.0.0
1. Check installed version
apt-cache policy fabric || rpm -q fabric || fabric --version
2. UPGRADE to newer than 2.2.26 (Debian / Ubuntu)
sudo apt update && sudo apt install --only-upgrade fabric
2. UPGRADE (RHEL / Amazon Linux / Fedora)
sudo dnf upgrade fabric
Note
Distros often backport fixes without changing the version number. Confirm with the distro advisory or changelog.
3. If no update is available yet, DOWNGRADE to a release before 1.0.0 (Debian / Ubuntu)
apt-cache madison fabric sudo apt install fabric=<VERSION_BEFORE_1.0.0> sudo apt-mark hold fabric
3. If no update is available yet, DOWNGRADE (RHEL / Amazon Linux / Fedora)
dnf --showduplicates list fabric sudo dnf downgrade fabric-<VERSION_BEFORE_1.0.0> sudo dnf versionlock add fabric
Downgrade risk
Downgrading can break dependent software and may reopen older bugs. Read the distro advisory first and test on a non-production host.
After downgrade
Restart the service, and keep the package held until a fixed release ships.
