CVE-2026-43910 is a high-severity flaw (CVSS 8.2) affecting java-client. Below: why it ranks where it does, which versions are affected, what to do, and the exact commands.

Appium Java Client is the Java language binding for writing Appium tests that conform to the W3C WebDriver protocol. From 8.2.1 until 10.1.1, when directConnect(true) is enabled, AppiumCommandExecutor.setDirectConnect() reads the directConnectHost, directConnectPort, and directConnectPath fields from the server's NEW_SESSION response and rebuilds the client's server URL from them, validating only that the protocol is https, with no host allowlist

Why this priority

  • High severity
  • Public exploit reference

A fixed release or distro patch exists.

appium java-client UPGRADE
Affected: >= 8.2.1 and < 10.1.1
Fixed in: 10.1.1
Safe to downgrade to: a release before 8.2.1
1. Check installed version
apt-cache policy java-client || rpm -q java-client || java-client --version
2. UPGRADE to 10.1.1 (Debian / Ubuntu)
sudo apt update && sudo apt install --only-upgrade java-client
2. UPGRADE (RHEL / Amazon Linux / Fedora)
sudo dnf upgrade java-client
Note
Distros often backport fixes without changing the version number. Confirm with the distro advisory or changelog.
3. If no update is available yet, DOWNGRADE to a release before 8.2.1 (Debian / Ubuntu)
apt-cache madison java-client sudo apt install java-client=<VERSION_BEFORE_8.2.1> sudo apt-mark hold java-client
3. If no update is available yet, DOWNGRADE (RHEL / Amazon Linux / Fedora)
dnf --showduplicates list java-client sudo dnf downgrade java-client-<VERSION_BEFORE_8.2.1> sudo dnf versionlock add java-client
Downgrade risk
Downgrading can break dependent software and may reopen older bugs. Read the distro advisory first and test on a non-production host.
After downgrade
Restart the service, and keep the package held until a fixed release ships.
