CVE-2026-48772 is a critical-severity flaw (CVSS 10.0) affecting proxysql. Below: why it ranks where it does, which versions are affected, what to do, and the exact commands.

ProxySQL is a proxy for MySQL and its forks, as well as PostgreSQL. In versions 2.0.0 through 3.0.8, the ProxySQL MySQL frontend accepts the `PROXY UNKNOWN <addr> <addr> <port> <port>\r\n` PP1 frame as a well-formed PROXY protocol header. The HAProxy PROXY protocol v1 specification says that when the protocol token is `UNKNOWN`, the receiver MUST ignore any address fields that follow it, because the proxy has declared it cannot determine the clie

Timeline

proxysql proxysql UPGRADE
Affected: >= 2.0.0 and < 3.0.9
Fixed in: 3.0.9
Safe to downgrade to: a release before 2.0.0
1. Check installed version
apt-cache policy proxysql || rpm -q proxysql || proxysql --version
2. UPGRADE to 3.0.9 (Debian / Ubuntu)
sudo apt update && sudo apt install --only-upgrade proxysql
2. UPGRADE (RHEL / Amazon Linux / Fedora)
sudo dnf upgrade proxysql
Note
Distros often backport fixes without changing the version number. Confirm with the distro advisory or changelog.
3. If no update is available yet, DOWNGRADE to a release before 2.0.0 (Debian / Ubuntu)
apt-cache madison proxysql sudo apt install proxysql=<VERSION_BEFORE_2.0.0> sudo apt-mark hold proxysql
3. If no update is available yet, DOWNGRADE (RHEL / Amazon Linux / Fedora)
dnf --showduplicates list proxysql sudo dnf downgrade proxysql-<VERSION_BEFORE_2.0.0> sudo dnf versionlock add proxysql
Downgrade risk
Downgrading can break dependent software and may reopen older bugs. Read the distro advisory first and test on a non-production host.
After downgrade
Restart the service, and keep the package held until a fixed release ships.
