CVE-2026-54527 is a critical-severity flaw (CVSS 9.0) affecting jupyterlab-git. Below: why it ranks where it does, which versions are affected, what to do, and the exact commands.

JupyterLab Git is a Git extension for JupyterLab. From 0.30.0b3 before 0.54.0, the PlainTextDiff.ts createHeader() method passes Git filenames directly to innerHTML when rendering renamed files in commit history, allowing a crafted filename to execute JavaScript when a victim views the rename diff in the Git History tab. This issue is fixed in version 0.54.0.

Affected: >= 0.30.1 and < 0.54.0 · 0.30.0 · 0.30.0 beta3
Fixed in: 0.54.0
Safe to downgrade to: a release before 0.30.0
1. Check installed version

Note
Distros often backport fixes without changing the version number. Confirm with the distro advisory or changelog.
3. If no update is available yet, DOWNGRADE to a release before 0.30.0 (Debian / Ubuntu)
apt-cache madison jupyterlab-git sudo apt install jupyterlab-git=<VERSION_BEFORE_0.30.0> sudo apt-mark hold jupyterlab-git

dnf --showduplicates list jupyterlab-git sudo dnf downgrade jupyterlab-git-<VERSION_BEFORE_0.30.0> sudo dnf versionlock add jupyterlab-git
Downgrade risk
Downgrading can break dependent software and may reopen older bugs. Read the distro advisory first and test on a non-production host.
After downgrade
Restart the service, and keep the package held until a fixed release ships.
