HIGH 7.5REMOTEUPGRADE

CVE-2026-106115 is a high-severity flaw (CVSS 7.5) affecting imagesharp. Below: why it ranks where it does, which versions are affected, what to do, and the exact commands.

ImageSharp is a 2D graphics library. From 2.1.0 until 4.1.2, the TIFF CCITT Group 4 encoder allocates Width times rowsPerStrip bytes even though T6BitCompressor.CompressStrip can emit encoded row data and two 12-bit end-of-facsimile-block codes beyond that capacity. TiffCcittCompressor.WriteCode performs unchecked writes, and a decode-and-re-encode flow can inherit TiffCompression.CcittGroup4Fax and one-bit metadata from attacker-supplied input.

Why this priority

  • High severity
  • Public exploit reference
  • Remotely exploitable, no login, no user action

A fixed release or distro patch exists.

Fixed in: 3.2.0, 4.1.2
Safe to downgrade to: a release before 2.1.0
1. Check installed version
apt-cache policy imagesharp || rpm -q imagesharp || imagesharp --version
2. UPGRADE to 3.2.0 (Debian / Ubuntu)
sudo apt update && sudo apt install --only-upgrade imagesharp
2. UPGRADE (RHEL / Amazon Linux / Fedora)
sudo dnf upgrade imagesharp
Note
Distros often backport fixes without changing the version number. Confirm with the distro advisory or changelog.
3. If no update is available yet, DOWNGRADE to a release before 2.1.0 (Debian / Ubuntu)
apt-cache madison imagesharp sudo apt install imagesharp=<VERSION_BEFORE_2.1.0> sudo apt-mark hold imagesharp
3. If no update is available yet, DOWNGRADE (RHEL / Amazon Linux / Fedora)
dnf --showduplicates list imagesharp sudo dnf downgrade imagesharp-<VERSION_BEFORE_2.1.0> sudo dnf versionlock add imagesharp
Downgrade risk
Downgrading can break dependent software and may reopen older bugs. Read the distro advisory first and test on a non-production host.
After downgrade
Restart the service, and keep the package held until a fixed release ships.
