CVE-2026-110839 is a high-severity flaw (CVSS 7.1) affecting freerdp. Below: why it ranks where it does, which versions are affected, what to do, and the exact commands.

FreeRDP 3.3.0 before 3.32.0, when built with WINPR_UTILS_IMAGE_JPEG=ON, has a heap-based out-of-bounds write in winpr_convert_from_jpeg because grayscale JPEG buffers are sized from one input component rather than three BGR output components. A malicious RDP server can offer a grayscale JPEG via clipboard redirection, corrupting client memory and crashing it when the item is pasted as CF_DIB bitmap data.

Why this priority

  • High severity

3. If no update is available yet, DOWNGRADE to a release before 3.3.0 (Debian / Ubuntu)
apt-cache madison freerdp sudo apt install freerdp=<VERSION_BEFORE_3.3.0> sudo apt-mark hold freerdp
3. If no update is available yet, DOWNGRADE (RHEL / Amazon Linux / Fedora)
dnf --showduplicates list freerdp sudo dnf downgrade freerdp-<VERSION_BEFORE_3.3.0> sudo dnf versionlock add freerdp
Downgrade risk
Downgrading can break dependent software and may reopen older bugs. Read the distro advisory first and test on a non-production host.
After downgrade
Restart the service, and keep the package held until a fixed release ships.
